The main topic that the Erlangen SunTREC focusses on is
Object oriented software technology and distributed systems.
Major project goal is to encourage the use of object
technology for distributed systems within industry.
The SunTREC project is closely related to the OVEST project and is part of JOINT.
The SunTREC run by the IMMD IV consists of three subprojects:
- Promondia
- Promondia is a Java-based framework for group communication in the
World Wide Web. It has won a number of awards, including a first prize in Sun
Microsystem's JavaCup in 1996.
- Coffee
- A Java driven coffee machine. The coffee machine can be controlled via
Java applets loaded via the World Wide Web.
- MetaJava
- MetaJava is a Java Virtual Machine that extends Java by a reflective
meta-level architecture. Java (meta) objects can be used to extend the Java
programming model.
