Creation of the brass hinges shown here took place in October 1997, and required two full weekends. Assembly took a third weekend. In case you'd like to ask "the question": I won't make another pair of these hinges. And I certainly won't make it at a price comparable to a new entire casing.

The modifications of the housing are all done by hand, as well as the hinges themselves are made manually. Only the center hole (not shown, 13mm long, 0.8mm diameter) required a table-mounted drill.

I recommend to back-up your S3 before attacking it with screwdriver, saw or file. The backup battery falls right off the mainboard, when you open the keyboard; the main battery cable is to short to allow removing mainboard or battery compartment seperatly. I moved them together and managed to keep the computer alive during the whole procedure.
