OPERA
An Architecture for Managing Large Computer Networks
Opera is a project funded by Dresdner Bank.
It studies the problems inherent to current management systems and proposes
an alternate system design that does not contain these shortcomings.
The Opera architecture consists of two main parts. A basic communication
architecture and a service architecture. The main design goals are
- orthogonality
- uniformity
- provide a common view to all managed objects and a set of base operations
that can be applied to them
- scalability
- reliability
