Welcome on my personal geological web page
Val Strona
During work on my thesis, I spent some splendid months in Val Strona di Omegna.
Besides being famous for its geology (Ivrea-Zone), this region and
adjacent areas near Lago
Maggiore, Italy, are also a very good place for excessive
alpine hiking.
Campello Monti is
a beautiful but deserted town on the top of the Val Strona. Small
nickel mines brought some wealth and prosperity during the 19th century
and the first decades of the 20th century.
